"Of course not, dear. But really, I don't understand why either of you gets so upset whenever you talk about your family. Honestly, the poor boy practically has a cardiac arrest whenever his parents are mentioned."
D.J. frowned, remembering. "You're right. I wonder why."
"I'm sure I don't know. Though Raphael did mention Christian has some problems of his own. I didn't think to ask what they were. I've got enough to do worrying about all your problems."
"I don't have any problems." D.J. allowed her hands to fall back to her sides, grateful her face no longer felt as though it would explode at any second. She gave the angel a pointed glare. "Except for you."
Josie waved away her anger. "Everyone should have such problems. Do you know how special you are to have a guardian angel? Not everyone rates the assistance."
"Gee, aren't I the lucky one?"
"Sarcasm will get you nowhere, young lady."
"You're acting like my mother."
"That's good because I" Josie took a deep breath and let it out slowly before continuing. "Because I always wanted to be a mother."
The sadness on Josie's face made D.J. pause at the beginning of another sarcastic comment. She felt small and ungrateful. Josie was, after all, only trying to help.
